Top
What do I need to check before I can apply for ADSL?
In order to have an ADSL service installed at your premises you must have available a standard phone line supplied by either Telstra or a Telstra reseller on which there are no incompatible services running. Examples of incompatible services include some security monitoring circuits and 'Prime-Number Systems' where a pool of phone lines is served by a single phone number. ADSL connections can also not be provided through PABX or switchboard systems.
If you have a number of phone lines at your premises it is possible for one of the lines to be suitable for ADSL even if another is not, so its worth checking all the phone lines you have for ADSL availability even if the first one you check gets rejected.

Uploading is transmission in the other direction: from one, usually smaller computer to another computer. From an Internet user's point-of-view, uploading is sending a file to a computer that is set up to receive it.

My computer reports my connection as 57600 or 115200 bps, how can this be?
The speed you see is that of the port, and not the connection. If you are using Microsoft Windows, you can usually resolve this issue by installing the correct modem drivers.
Why do some web sites take forever to load?
Slow page loads can be caused by a number of things. Usually, if just one site is slow, it is the site and not your connection that is experiencing problems. If all pages load slowly it is most likely a problem with your Internet connection. Make sure you have the latest firmware and drivers installed for your modem. If this does not resolve your problem, please contact technical support.
Top
My modem keeps hanging up while I'm online. Why does this happen?
This can be caused by many factors including modem drivers, poor telephone wiring at your location, having double adapters or other devices connected to the same line but most of the time it is just call waiting ringing through. To disable call waiting, you need to contact your Telephone Service Provider. If your with Telstra for your home phone services you can add *44, at the beginning of the dial up number. So if you calling 0198333237 it would change to *44,0198333237. Then connect to the internet, and you should be all set.
